Fun October Activity!

This is a really fun October activity to do with students! Read aloud the book, How Many Seeds In a Pumpkin?, then group your students into four or five children per pumpkin...depends on how many pumpkins you have (Smaller pumpkins are best) ! Each group is assigned a number, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, etc. Then the kids scoop out the pumpkin seeds with their hands (I had spoons, but most wanted to use their hands). Once all the seeds are out of the pumpkin the group arranges them into number arrays, according to their assigned number. Once the activity is done and each group shares their arrays with the rest of the class, I collect the seeds, bring them home, wash them, bake them in the oven and the kids get to have them at snack time the next day!
